For more than 55 years, Tri-City Transmission & Auto Repair has been serving drivers in Tempe and throughout the Valley. Located near Arizona State University, Tri-City is Arizona's oldest transmission shop and has served over three generations of customers.
We Started With Transmissions
Transmission repair has always been our specialty.
Over the years, though, we realized there was a gap in the automotive repair industry. Transmission specialists are specialists for a reason. They spend their careers diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and understanding some of the most complicated systems in a vehicle.
A great transmission technician isn't necessarily a general automotive technician, and a great general automotive technician isn't necessarily a transmission specialist.
In 2010, we jumped into general auto repair with both feet. With an excellent reputation and knowledge in transmission diagnostics and repair, our general repair had to match. So we insisted on being the source for specialty transmission and general auto repair.
Rather than simply putting "general auto repair" on the sign and saying, "We do that too," we built a second shop on the same property and staffed it with technicians who specialize in general automotive repair.
Today, Tri-City Transmission & Auto Repair operates both specialties in one place.

Every day, we see vehicles come through the shop, and we feel consumers need more understanding. So often, technicians and service writers alike can get the car fixed but struggle to convey the concepts to their customers. Communicating auto repair is our strength. We hear the questions they ask, the misconceptions they've been told, the repairs that have been recommended elsewhere, and the decisions people struggle to make when something goes wrong with their vehicle.
In real time, real-world experiences in the shop become topics for the podcast. Dave and Jon are actively in the bays and at the service counter.
